JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:         Industrial Engineering Intern                                            FLSA  Status:   Hourly

Reports To:      Value Stream Manager and OpEx Manager 

Provides Direction To: None

JOB SUMMARY:

Complete time studies in a timely manner while identifying waste within the process. This is primarily a Lean based role to support standard work and continuous improvement for Barksdale Inc.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Work comfortably in a union based manufacturing environment

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Industrial Engineering or related program

• 1 to 3 years of work experience

• Interpersonal communication skills

• Strong analytical skills

• Self-motivated and capable to work independently and in a team environment

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point 

DIRECT AND INDIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct time studies

• Document findings

• Identify waste and continuous improvement opportunities

• Assist in 5S auditing, training and reporting

• Complete line balancing and cell layout improvement analysis

• Work with employees at the point of execution, lead and management level

• Assist in the completion of visual work instructions

 

EXPECTATIONS

1.      TACTICAL LEVEL

• High standard quality time studies

• Focus all efforts on perpetuating improvements already identified and/or completed

• Keep constant communication of progress

• Participate in kaizen events (Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Material Replenishment System, Problem Solving)

 2.      TEAM LEVEL

• Work directly with operators, leads, Manufacturing Engineers and Value Stream Managers
